Carrera Mediterana 2016 Start Trieste Sept 24 - Finish Rapallo Oct 13
Situated in a unique and somewhat historically precarious position between Latin, Germanic and Slavic lands, Trieste is unlike any other city in the world, and is truly one of the most underrated and unfairly overlooked places not only in Italy, but in all of Europe. While Rome, Florence and nearby Venice have been fixtures on the proverbial tourist map for centuries, in terms of cuisine, culture, castles and romance Trieste is second to none. Embraced by green hills on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other, with the snow-capped Dolomites piercing the horizon to the north, no city can honestly claim to have a more majestic setting.
The route is now under construction but we can already give away some of the highlights that we will pass through during this three week event.
The event caters for both the rallydrivers as well as the classic tourers. The rally route has some regularities a day based on navigating from the map. The tour route just visits the controls at your own pace.
Trieste is definitely one of the many juwels along the Adriatic coast, although not very well known. So this is the place where the rally will start from.
Ever been to Hvar? Donot worry, we will go there. The island of Hvar is the queen of the Croatian Dalmatian islands. Hvar has celebrated 140 years of organised tourism and today it is considered to be one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world.
Dubrovnik, a unique fusion of historical sights and pristine beaches.
Spirit of Dubrovnik, this stunning medieval stone walled city rising proudly from the blue Adriatic is summed up in its passionate motto of “Libertas”: freedom. Today, Dubrovnik is one of the Europe’s most attractive tourist destinations and its worldwide fame is well deserved.
Even though the grand fortification encircling the Unesco protected old town is the first sight you see upon arrival, its interior is just as impressive. As you walk through the streets heaving with people, take a moment to savour the vista of the shining paving stones of Stradun, the heart of the city. After this we visit Kotor - Albania - The Meteora in Greece - Italy - Sicily - Sardigna to finish in Rapallo Italy at an azuro blue beach.
The officials in charge of cleaning your road through Albania, is making you feel welcome.
So just do it and do it now.
More information will be coming here soon.
